Last Day of Summer

So, another fun tradition my mom and I have started is our annual visit to the oh-so-cheesy-but-oh-so-fun California State Fair at the Cal Expo in Sacramento. Oh yea, baby. There is the typical fair-type fare, piggies, horses, and the all American Pony Ride. Also yards and yards of cotton candy and soft serve ice cream. mmm sugar. Ah yes. And finally, my great fair purchase of the year--- the completely over the top VITA-MIX blender to end all blenders. Smoothies, here we come (thank you MOM!)

It was a great way to end the summer.

For Today, I'll leave you with the serenity of Bear Valley.... no shots of the kids running in circles leaving trails of dust or splashing voraciously in the water.... but this is what we find every year when we head up there.... serenity for a few moments...

Yearly Trip to Bear Valley

Every August, I take the girls up for to Bear Valley to visit my mom after a long summer. She usually spends the entire summer up there, getting ready for her Young Musicians Camp. We show up just AFTER the camp, when the place is quiet, like the lull after a storm. There's always plenty of snacks and treats leftover from the camp, and we just hang out and eat all week, pretty much. The girls love it, and we get filthy dirty. It is simply gorgeous up here, and so peaceful. It's hard to leave and join the ranks of the crazy people, about to start school. ugh.
