My 4th of July slideshow attempt!

Days of Summer-- Rubber Duckys and an outing to Fairyland

So I heard that Children's Hospital was having their Rubber Ducky Derby on Lake Merritt near Fairyland, so we made a day of it. Phew, fairyland on a Saturday, not a great idea. The Ducky Derby was not nearly as exciting as I figured... .cheering for thousands of tiny wobbling ducks that are basically floating along and being blown by giant blowers is not so fun. Only the last minute or so, when they all headed our way.... it was quite a sight!

We started Vacation Bible School this week, and I'm helping to lead the group of 1st graders. Here they are all trying to act like cool secret agents... such a funny group of kids!!

4th of July Blowout!!

Every 4th of July the Country Club where we live shoots off enormous, city-sized fireworks--right in front of our house. We literally just lay down on the grass and watch them explode over our heads. So how could we NOT invite 100 of our closest friends????

Our new best friends the Ferrons were looking particularly patriotic this day... LOVE the flag behind them!!


David and Emily came early to help set up the bounce house--anywhere Penelope goes, Iris is sure to be somewhere close by!


controlled chaos on the front lawn.... but it was a blast, so we didn't mind.

GOOOOOOAL!!!!

Daddy is soo proud of his girls. Since Penelope has pointedly demonstrated that she prefers to be a watcher of sports, Brett decided to wager on the little one, and quickly signed her up for Daddy and Me soccor as soon as she was old enough. And promptly went out and bought her 1. a soccor ball 2. soccor shorts 3. shin splints..... all of which she didn't need but surely appreciates as she demonstrates her obvious prowess as the next Mia Hamm. I think MJ Brown sounds like a fantastic sports moniker, myself. Penelope and I cheered from the stands.
