We made it through the first week of First Grade!!

Both Penelope and Mommy (and Millie!) survived the first two weeks of First Grade. Penelope is holding up quite well, considering her days pretty much doubled from Kindergarten. The ones who were the most shell-shocked were the parents, believe it or not. I still can't believe we are doing this elementary school thing... .what happened to my lazy summer? But, surprisingly, getting up and out of the house hasn't been as brutal as I anticipated. The girls are usually up (a few mornings I've had to drag a sleepy Penelope out of bed) and P is excited to go to school and see friends. And Mommy is excited to go to school and see friends!! I had no idea as a kid how social school can be for the mommies! We are still feeling our way around the first grade stuff.... both Penelope and I keep wanting to go back and hang out with Mrs. Snitselaar, the old kindergarten teacher! We miss her!

Miss P enjoys waffles before her first big day of first grade!! congratulations, penelope!

It was very bright as P tried to pose for a picture in front of her first grade door. Millie is representing.

Again with the brightness.... Penelope is thrilled to have best friends Iris and Maya in her class this year. We are only sorry that Gabbie is not in class too...

The big Pledge ceremony every morning. this is new for us late-comer kindergarten families

penelope finds her cubby with the help of Mrs. Rossner, her new first grade teacher

Mommy and Millie are so proud of big sister!

All the parents checking out the classroom before Mrs. Rossner kicked us out.... we slunk out to the parent's tea!

Millie helped herself to plenty of white doughnuts at the tea, and is enjoying Mommy-Millie time now that sissy is in school.

Even dad showed up to send his little first-born off to school and hung out with high school buddy Bruce, who is now a stay-at-home dad!
