Safari West

For our anniversary, we took a little adventure to Africa, and it only took us an hour and a half to get there! Safari West is near Calistoga and what a blast we had. We spent the night in a safari tent-cabin listening to the animals all night long. We took a Safari on an African jeep and got up close and personal with lots of African animals.

Jules worked up some of the images to make them even more cool (hooray for photoshop) so that is why they have her logo on them. Check out her blog here!

I had a little safari of my own... a photo safari. Jules gave me her back-up camera, a Canon 20D that is still so much better than anything i'd ever own, and I've been playing around with it for a while now, just so that I can be shooting with good equipment more often. This way I'm ready at the weddings I shoot with her. So here we go...

"are we there yet?" They each have their own little DVD players to entertain on the way... I love this shot. Your eye goes right to Millie, and the background is blurred out so that it isn't distracting. P is looking bored, but it is a classic car shot!!

This is the little lake near our tent where we fed the catfish. . .

Miss P is always saying she wants to be a photographer like her auntie...

The giraffes were stunning, and my favorite part of the Safari. Miss M is a big giraffe fan, and I just love the contrast between little and big here . . .

Our cool jeep ride!!

There were many gorgeous birds . . .

Needed a quick shutter speed to catch this guy! Actually, he was moving rather quickly, and Millie was fascinated with him!
