SuperCow at the Super Sacramento State Fair

Yesterday, at the request of my mamma (again!) I went to the STATE fair, not the county fair this time, and it did not disappoint! My mom, her husband, Jeffrey, the girls, and I all trekked up to Sacramento to hang out with the Golden Bears. The highlight for Penelope was petting real deer and naming them Bambi and Faline. Jeff and I surprised her with a huge stuffed fish that we won at the carnival. By "won" I mean we paid the guy $10 and he gave it to us! Jeff would have won something anyway, but we at least got the big fish.

Millie was thrilled with the $10 bubble machine that spouted non-stop bubbles so she could dance around like a crazy person. She also loooved all the animals in the petting zoo. She kept insisting on kissing all the animals. I love the shot of the goat--he turned his head just as I took the shot and the delay on the cell phone got his nose right in the camera. And what is a fair without pigs? They literally had the mamma pigs heaving and puffing on tables while waiting to give birth. The one momma pig who had already had the piglets was the star of the day... and her poor pink babies were out for display and handling. They wouldn't stop screaming and the mom could care less... Doesn't that one of the little pig's nose just make you want to squeeze it?

Meanwhile, my mother was sooo happy to find the steam iron that she had passed up at the County fair and wished she had bought all this time. In fact she was so happy she bought two. See how happy she is??

What made Jeffrey's night was riding on the carnival ride that took you straight up and plunged you straight down at 50 miles an hour. I rode with him and it was so fun we went two times in a row. Trying to keep my eyes open at 50 miles an hour was a challenge. The worst part, of course, is when you just reach the pinnacle at the top, right before they drop you, and you are thinking, "what the hell am I doing up here?!"

I think Neil just enjoyed being out and away for the day since he's had other not-so-fun stuff on hiis mind lately. And as for me.... I loved hanging out with family on such a beautiful day, the band Lifehouse performed so that was a very pleasant surprise, and I loved riding over the fair on the skycap ride, overlooking everything with Jeffrey.
